ERA Curatorium - ERAC

About us

The European Renal Association Curatorium aims are:

  • to facilitate the cooperation between the society and its supporting members
  • to reach the Association goals through specific projects and initiatives in cooperation with the supporting members

Examples of common projects are:

  • support young talents in nephrology with research fellowship programmes
  • support basic and advanced training through scholarships.
  • support exchange programs including visiting Professor projects
  • support ERA initiatives for the improvement of diagnosis and treatment of Kidney Disease

The Curatorium structure permits an open and balanced discussion between ERA bodies and supporting Members.

Supporting members make an annual contribution (membership), which is basically based on their annual turnover; in any case, the minimum amount is EUR 5,000 (in particular for smaller companies) while the maximum is EUR 40,000.

These annual contributions are paid once a year after the invoice has been issued.

ERA Neph-Manual: Nephrology Unfolded

The aim of this new ERA publication is to promote medical expertise by combining the presentation of interesting case examples with a discussion of pathophysiological mechanisms and therapeutic principles. The manual consists of several chapters covering different aspects of kidney disease, covering pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment in clearly structured blocks, accompanied by beautiful graphics and illustrations.  Each chapter ends with a series of 'test yourself' and multiple choice questions.
The manual is exclusively reserved for ERA members and is specifically designed for young nephrologists to support their training and broaden their knowledge in the field of nephrology.

ESPN/ERA Registry

ESPN is the European Society of Paediatric Nephrology. Together with ERA/Registry they are responsible for the Renal Registry which includes paediatric patients on kidney replacement therapy. It aim is to improve in the long-term the health outcomes of paediatric patients with end-stage kidney disease during childhood and adult life.

MSc in Clinical Trials (Oxford Population Health)

ERAC is supporting this initiative with 3 fellowships (for nephrologists), consisting in a two-year part-time distance and in person learning course that provides in-depth training in the principles and practice of conducting large-scale, randomised clinical trials.

Support for the Turkish Society of Nephrology

ERAC immediately reacted to the earthquake that struck Türkiye on 6th February 2023. Among those affected were dialysis patients who rely on regular treatment. Nearly 1,000 to 8,000 patients in hard-hit provinces were transferred to surrounding provinces. The earthquake had devastating effects in several ways affecting patients under dialysis treatment.

Support to Ukraine

Patients on Automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) have lately had an incredibly difficult time given the regular power shortages in many parts of Ukraine. The only way to continue with APD in situations with a limited availability of electricity is to have a powerful battery at your disposal.
The Renal Disaster Relief Task Force (RDRTF) has been able to help APD patients. There are still a hundred batteries needed.
